A (256×256) pixel 76.7mW CMOS imager/ compressor based on real-time In-pixel compressive sensing

چکیده
A CMOS imager is presented which has the ability to perform localized compressive sensing on-chip. In-pixel convolutions of the sensed image with measurement matrices are computed in real time, and a proposed programmable twodimensional scrambling technique guarantees the randomness of the coefficients used in successive observation. A power and areaefficient implementation architecture is presented making use of a single ADC. A 256×256 imager has been developed as a test vehicle in a 0.18μm CIS technology. Using an 11-bit ADC, a SNR of 18.6dB with a compression factor of 3.3 is achieved after reconstruction. The total power consumption of the imager is simulated at 76.7mW from a 1.8V supply voltage.

Multiscale reconstruction for computational spectral imaging
In this work we develop a spectral imaging system and associated reconstruction methods that have been designed to exploit the theory of compressive sensing. Recent work in this emerging field indicates that when the signal of interest is very sparse (i.e. zero-valued at most locations) or highly compressible in some basis, relatively few incoherent observations are necessary to reconstruct the...

We demonstrate a compressed sensing, photon counting lidar system based on the single-pixel camera. Our technique recovers both depth and intensity maps from a single under-sampled set of incoherent, linear projections of a scene of interest at ultra-low light levels around 0.5 picowatts. Only two-dimensional reconstructions are required to image a three-dimensional scene. We demonstrate intens...
متن کاملCompressive wavefront sensing with weak values.
We demonstrate a wavefront sensor that unites weak measurement and the compressive-sensing, single-pixel camera. Using a high-resolution spatial light modulator (SLM) as a variable waveplate, we weakly couple an optical field's transverse-position and polarization degrees of freedom. By placing random, binary patterns on the SLM, polarization serves as a meter for directly measuring random proj...
متن کاملA 256×256 CMOS image sensor with ΔΣ-based single-shot compressed sensing
Low power consumption is a primary concern in many CMOS image-sensor applications. As the resolution of these sensors has increased while maintaining or increasing their frame rates, A/D conversion has become the dominant component of power consumption [1]. Conventional image compression can help reduce the readout rate [2] (and hence its power consumption), but cannot reduce the A/D conversion...
متن کاملSmart CMOS image sensor for lightning detection and imaging.
We present a CMOS image sensor dedicated to lightning detection and imaging. The detector has been designed to evaluate the potentiality of an on-chip lightning detection solution based on a smart sensor. This evaluation is performed in the frame of the predevelopment phase of the lightning detector that will be implemented in the Meteosat Third Generation Imager satellite for the European Spac...
